Pepper Survives
Pepper was still limping and very miserable the next day. The local vet in Canet was shut so I had to go to Perpignan. The young lady gave him a little shave around his wound, dresssed it and gave him an antibiotic shot.
The difference in his behaviour from going in to the vet to coming out of the vet was remarkable. He was a new dog. It was like when as a child, you scraped your knee. You cried and moaned because you wanted a little bit of attention from Mum but really there was no real damage. Pepper was a consumate actor. A portrayal akin to Kevin Spacey at the end of Usual Suspects when he walks out of the building and drops his limp altogether and we realise he is Kyser Sozé.
So I took him down to the seaside for a treat. This would be the first time he had seen the sea. He is frightened of the waves a bit. He's generally OK with water but he can't really work out why the water keeps trying to run up and grab him. I have explained numerous times that these are called waves but he just doesn't get it.
There has been a fair bit of wind over the last few days which has resulted in a little bit of surf. I imagine that today on the first day back to work after the festive break that a fair few young men called in sick and will return to work tomorrow with big smiles after a miraculous recovery from which ever ailment they chose to have.
It is now the 4th of Jan 2010 and I hadn't planned on staying in Canet Plage for quite this long but I have a little problem with the camper and I thought I would be better off getting it looked at whilst I was in a country where I could speak the language. Basically, the engine has been making a noise which worried me. I thought it was either the alternator or the camkbelt tensioning pulley. I took it to a garege and a guy said it was the alternatorindeed. He agreed it was a bit noisey but would probably be OK for a while yet so I have ordered one, it arrives tomorrow and I will set off for Spain when I have collected it. I will just keep it in the van and fit it when this one gets too noisey. This has been a bit of a blow to my budget.... a 185€ blow in fact.
Sorry, I know the car bit is boring, but, well I am a bit boring myself aren't I so what do you expect?
