Bit more Golf
I know golf is dead boring to most of you but it's not to me so you know I'm going to write about it.
As I mentioned in another entry, there is a course here but it's only half finished. The course is OK but the rest is just a building site. But all the same I thought I would treat myself to a round. I played on my own again and this time I was not obliged to pay for a caddy. Sam and Pauline had offered to look after Pepper whilst I was out which made the round all the more enjoyable. Not having to worry about Pepper roasting in the van or being tethered to a tree on the campsite made for a much more relaxed round which was probably reflected on my card. I played pretty good considering, scored 33 points which for the first time on a course and with a 2 club wind is not bad.
Of course I have to tell you about the shot I played in the picture to the right. This was a 52 deg. gap wedge in from about 80 metres. It pitched just over an inch from the hole, rolled past about 1 metre and I putted in for my only birdie of the day. Result.
I finally left for Imsouane this morning after having been in Essaouira for 7 nights. Ronald and Olka had left 2 days before so our little social group was starting to fragment. I left Sam and Pauline and I'll miss them. I think they'll miss me too but not as much as Sam will miss Pepper. He adored him, played with him all the time. Pauline and Sam had said they were staying on the site in Essaouira until the end of Feb but I think they will leave as soon as they can get their phones working and I reckon we will all meet up within the next few weeks somewhere or another.
The drive to Imsouane was quite short, just over an hour. You turn off the main road and then take a 12km winding mountainous road down to the village. The little road offers stunning scenery and wild camels and dromaderies with their young roam freely across the road. The village of Imsouane is small, the smallest I have been to and that's nice. There are a few surf shops where I hope to rent or buy a board and I think I may have met my surf teacher on the campsite. Nicholas is a German guy and a very cool German guy too. He's offered to help me with a few surf tips. I'll wait until I've known him for at least an hour or 2 until I risk the withdrawal of free surf lessons with a rendition of my German (up until now, everything has been satisfactory) joke.
