How to get to Chalet Les Frenes

Local bus from Chamonix centre

GREAT NEWS!!! Chamonix Bus have added the stop Glacier Taconnaz on Route No. 2 which is directly in front of the chalet - no more walking to the bus stop with your ski boots on. There are 4 buses per day which drop you at this stop, they leave Chamonix Centre (near tourist office) at 8.18, 9,18, 16.35 and 17.38 . If you don't arrive at these times you can get to the chalet with bus number 1 or 2 to from Chamonix centre. If you take bus No. 1, get off at "les Montquarts". If you take bus No. 2, get off at "Les Tissieres". We are a short walk from these stops. Chamonix Bus timetable

Flying

The nearest airport is Geneva, from there you can get a shared transfer to Chalet Les Frenes with one of the many companies that offer a door to door service.

There is also the SAT bus to Chamonix from Geneva airport.

Driving

If you are driving, a good landmark to head for is the Hotel Mercure (the Les Bossons one - not the Chamonix centre one) which is located very close to our chalet. If you have satnav, the chalet is at the junction of Route de Vers Le Nants and Chemin du Fouffion

Train

If you are coming by train, the best stop to get off at is Taconnaz which is 5 stops from Chamonix. Taconnaz train station is literally a 4 minute walk from the chalet but the path is not marked and is not obvious so click here for detailed instructions with photos. REMEMBER!!! Taconnaz train station is a REQUEST STOP so you have to press the button on the train before the stop otherwise it will just go straight past. Also when waiting for the train at the Taconnaz station, stick your hand out to get the train to stop.
